The Skills Canada Virtual National Competition is a fun filled event!

In response to the ongoing global pandemic the SCNC 2021, SCC (Skills/Compétences Canada)’s annual flagship event is cancelled as a face-to-face event and will be hosted virtually. Competitors from across Canada will participate to become the best of Canada. Click on the below link to access your virtual competition information and documents.

Highlights:
Watch post-secondary students and apprentices from across Canada compete in their trade or technology;
Closing Ceremony, 6pm EDT: Don’t miss the virtual award ceremony where gold, silver and bronze medals are awarded to the winners in their respective trade or technology.
Tie-in to the importance of the nine Essential Skills in the skilled trades and technologies.
HGTV celebrities will be participating in the event.

What can you expect at the Skills Canada Virtual National Competition?

Lobby
·      Your first view of the Skills Canada Virtual National Competition. Enjoy the welcome video
·      Keep your eyes open for scavenger hunt items (details on scavenger hunt below)
·      You will find the entrances to all the rooms you can access throughout the day

Prize Centre and Leaderboard (tab at top)
·      Learn about how to win great prizes
·      Here you will find information on rewards for completing checkpoints (many points to be earned)
·      Find out what prizes are available to be won
·      View your score
·      Take part in the scavenger hunt
·      Access the Trivia Challenge by clicking the “Trivia Challenge” tab at the top. This will earn you the most points throughout the day
·      Before you leave don’t forget the fill out the survey, (tab at top) to earn final points for the day

Competition Hall
·      See highlight videos of competitors from across Canada
·     Visit 45 skilled trade and technology booths to learn about those trades
·      Check out the documents and links pertaining to the various skilled trade and technology competitions. Find something interesting? Add it to your swag bag.
·      Find out how you could be Canada’s next gold medalist in one of our skilled trade or technology contest areas through monitored text chats within our contest booths
·      Keep your eye out for scavenger hunt items

·      Over 70 national industry and education partners
·      Answers to the Trivia Challenge can be found in select partner booths
·      Engage with industry and education partners through monitored text chat, a great way to learn about career options
·      Check out the videos, documents and links provided by our partners. Find something interesting? Add it to your swag bag.
·      Keep your eye out for scavenger hunt items

Main Stage and Essential Skills Stage
·      Check out the two agendas to see the schedule for each of the stages. You can easily join any of the live sessions by heading to the relevant stage
·      Join the #EndSkilledTradesStigma chat with Sherry Holmes on the Main Stage at 12:30pm EDT
·      Chat with HGTV’s Sebastian Clovis and Kate Campbell live in the auditorium at 2:00pm EDT
·      Earn points while you watch informative videos on skilled trade and technology careers
·      Look for scavenger hunt items to add points to your Leaderboard

·      Have you met your local Skills Canada representatives to learn about programs in your province or territory?
·      Visit the Essential Skills booth and find out about the Essential Skills app where you can test your skills
·      Keep your eyes open for scavenger hunt items

How to win prizes through the Leaderboard Challenge
·     Open the Trivia Challenge questions on our platform and earn 25 points for each correctly answered question
·     You can find the answers to these questions in the exhibit hall
·     Find hidden images throughout the venue to earn additional points
·     Complete other checkpoints listed in the Leaderboard and Prize Centre
·     Each time you earn points for yourself on the Leaderboard, you are also earning points for your school and a chance for them to bring home a School Prize Pack

Information on prizes and other ways to earn points while you are gaining knowledge of the interesting, exciting careers highlighted at the event are listed below:

Grand Prize: An all-expense paid trip for two to the 2022 Skills Canada National Competition May 25 – 28, 2022
Vancouver Convention Centre in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia

Prize package includes*:
·     Domestic coach airfare for two
·     Hotel accommodations – one double room for four nights, breakfast included
·     VIP access to competition site, including opening and closing ceremonies, and networking events
·     Lunch  and hospitality during competition days
·     Transport between Vancouver airport and hotel
·     Winners under the age of 19 must be accompanied by an adult

*Prize recipients must sign a release in an agreement to all terms

Second Place Prize: Nintendo Switch Prize Pack
Includes:
·       1 x Nintendo Switch Console
