My Skills Background<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

I\u2019m the Academic Chair for Baking and Pastry Arts, at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT). I\u2019ve been the Expert in my Skill Area for seven years.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Importance of Training<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Training is particularly important in the lead up to the competition. The main challenge that I see competitors facing is always a commitment to training. When I\u2019m working with a competitor for a WorldSkills Competition, I focus on one area at a time. As an Expert, I consider a WorldSkills Competition to be a success when the competitors grow in their abilities. When I attend these competitions, I most look forward to seeing the competitors succeed.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Value of the Skills for Success<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I believe the most critical skills during training and at the competition are Adaptability and Problem Solving. I hope my competitor has a wonderful experience and gains a network of colleagues around the world as a result of competing at the 47<\/span>th<\/span> WorldSkills Competition, in Lyon.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Why I Love Volunteering<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I volunteer as a WorldSkills Expert to support and promote skills to our youth. I find it very rewarding to see the competitors grow and develop their baking skills and techniques.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
