My Skills Background<\/span><\/b>\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m a hairdressing teacher at CFP Des Riverains, Repentigny. I love learning and sharing my knowledge of hairdressing with others. I’m passionate about helping our young apprentices acquire the knowledge and skills they need to practice hairdressing. Working and collaborating with people while striving for excellence is what motivates me in my profession. I became an Expert in April 2024, and I have been a National Technical Committee Member for 10 years.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Importance of Training<\/span><\/b>\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Training in preparation for the WorldSkills Competition requires a lot of work and dedication to be successful. I recommend seven to twenty-one hours of training per week, depending on the competitor’s schedule and goals. In addition to the training, the competitor must continue to practice their skill daily with their clients. In our field, we pay particular attention to interpreting client\u2019s needs. The competitor must therefore have in-depth technical knowledge as well as excellent listening and interpreting skills. When competing, competitors must find the right balance in terms of their physical and mental state to meet the demands of the competition.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0It is therefore important to help the competitor reinforce their technical knowledge, develop a work plan and complete the competition. The goal of the training is to strive for excellence, while sharing, collaborating and listening to the competitor so that they will perfect their skills.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Value of the Skills for Success<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The most important Skills for Success during training and for the competition are reading to interpret proofs, numeracy in relation to the development of products for coloring, bleaching and perming, communication and adaptability for customer requests, and creativity and innovation in the design of hairstyles.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
