Biography<\/strong>
\nI\u2019ve always wanted to be a hairdresser. But after being continually told that it\u2019s difficult to earn a living as one, I went to college instead to study science. That didn\u2019t work out. I prefer a hands-on profession where I can learn new techniques and develop relationships with my clients. I\u2019d like to have my own hair salon one day, but my main goal is to make my clients smile and feel good about themselves!<\/p>\n

My teacher showed me videos of previous WorldSkills Competitions, and I immediately imagined myself competing in Shanghai. I entered as many competitions as possible, and when I was selected to go to WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, I felt a combination of joy, astonishment and absolute disbelief! My biggest challenge will be adapting to compete in a foreign country and being far from home. At this point, I’m most looking forward to learning about the events in which I\u2019ll be competing.<\/p>\n

Interesting Fact<\/strong>
\nI started learning country line dancing after returning from the Skills Canada National Competition 2025, in Regina. I love it!<\/p>\n

Skills for Success<\/strong>
\nCreativity & Innovation are the most important skill for my trade because I must create a hairstyle from instructions that I\u2019ve received a mere five minutes before the competition starts! I\u2019ll manage the situation by following some great advice I\u2019ve been given: Before the event begins, take time to write out your plan on how to complete each step of the competition. This has really reduced my anxiety!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
