Doug is a RSE Heavy Equipment Technician who has worked in a variety of vehicle maintenance positions in Alberta and, since 2007, in the Yukon. Throughout his journey, Doug found that training and mentoring others was the most fulfilling part of skilled trades. After over 10 years as a trades school instructor, guiding youth towards their career goals is still Doug\u2019s best motivation. The desire to offer his students the very best learning experience led to Doug to obtaining a master\u2019s degree in education in 2018.<\/p>\n
Doug joined the Skills family as Yukon NTC for Heavy Vehicle Technology at SCNC 2015 in Saskatoon. Appointed to the board of SC-Yukon in 2017, he also served as board Secretary for several years. Since 2023, Doug has filled the role of president of SC-Yukon where he continues to motivate and challenge youth to seek careers in skilled trades. Through his teaching at Yukon University, Doug has developed an interest in the challenges of promoting skilled trades and apprenticeships in remote northern communities and decolonizing technical training<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
