My Skills Journey <\/strong>
\nLeaping into the world of Skills competitions was one of the best decisions I\u2019ve ever made. In 2024, I won the gold medal in my Skill Area of Cooking at the regional Skills competition in Yukon, which qualified me for the Skills Canada National Competition (SCNC) 2024, in Quebec City. That experience pushed me out of my comfort zone, shaped me into the person I am today, and led me to a career in Yukon schools, preparing meals for students. <\/p>\n

Joining the National Alumni Committee (NAC) <\/strong>
\nSkills\/Comp\u00e9tences Canada opened doors for me, gave me confidence, and showed me the values that skilled trades have to offer. So, it was natural for me to join the National Alumni Committee. I want to give back to the Skills organizations that helped me grow. I strongly believe in promoting the opportunities that trades and technologies can offer to our youth. <\/p>\n

Overcoming Career Barriers <\/strong>
\nI\u2019ve faced many challenges navigating the competitive and high-pressure nature of the culinary field. By learning to manage high expectations, strict food safety standards and proving myself in competitions, I\u2019ve turned these obstacles into my sources of pride, passion and purpose. <\/p>\n

Proudest Moment <\/strong>
\nMy proudest moment was standing on the stage at the SCNC 2024, in Qu\u00e9bec City representing the Yukon. My success helps inspire my family, friends and colleagues and, most importantly, the youth in Yukon and across Canada. I take pride in every meal that I prepare for students, knowing that I\u2019m fueling the next generation of skilled workers. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
