Ray has\u00a0been involved with apprenticeship training for many years\u00a0and believes there is\u00a0a\u00a0lack of\u00a0knowledge about the trades.\u00a0Ray became involved with the skills movement in\u00a02006\u00a0when he was\u00a0involved as a member of the Provincial Technical Committee (PTC) and a competition judge.\u00a0In\u00a02009,\u00a0he\u00a0received the\u00a0Skills Canada Alberta\u00a0(SCA)\u00a0Volunteer of the Year Award.\u00a0He\u00a0joined the SCA Board\u00a0in 2016\u00a0and served as its vice chair. In\u00a0the Fall of 2018\u00a0he\u00a0was elected Chair of the SCA Board, where\u00a0he\u00a0still serves.<\/p>\n

Over the years he has participated in many WorldSkills Competitions, in several roles, including WorldSkills Calgary 2009, WorldSkills London 2011, WorldSkills Leipzig 2013 and WorldSkills Kazan 2019. He believes in our youth and is a strong supporter of the Skills movement, which can and does change lives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
