My career path<\/strong>
\nI decided to pursue a diploma of vocational studies (DVS) in automotive mechanics, a field I’m passionate about. I spent 12 years working in the Volkswagen Group Canada (VW) workshop, which was an incredible experience! This work enabled me to specialize in high voltage, and then I accepted a new position as foreman at VW.<\/p>\n

What I love about my job<\/strong>
\nI like training the next generation in my field by sharing my knowledge, and helping apprentices advance and develop their expertise by drawing on my own experiences. I’ve always been fascinated by technological developments. I’m still an apprentice myself, which motivates me to continually develop my skills. It’s important to keep abreast of developments in automotive mechanics because it’s an evolving field. To this end, I follow the training courses available and pass down my knowledge to my colleagues and apprentices. There are plenty of jobs in autobody repair, such as mechanic, parts clerk, technical advisor at dealerships and private companies, and much more!<\/p>\n

Skills for Success<\/strong>
\nIn autobody repair, I consider problem solving to be the most important Skill for Success because you have to analyze situations to find solutions.<\/p>\n

Advice to young people<\/strong>
\nMy advice to the next generation of skilled workers is to listen carefully to your employer and your colleagues to learn knowledge and then apply it to your work and your life in order to achieve success.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
