Canadian Armed Forces renews their partnership as Premier Sponsor of the Skills Canada National Competition<\/strong><\/p>\n

OTTAWA,\u00a0Ontario, April 1, 2025 <\/strong>\u2013 Skills\/Comp\u00e9tences Canada (SCC), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting careers in skilled trades and technologies, is proud to announce that the Canadian Armed Forces will continue their support as Premier Sponsor of the Skills\u00a0Canada\u00a0National Competition (SCNC) 2025, in Regina, Saskatchewan. Their support will make it easier for SCC to help youth showcase their talents in skilled trades and technologies through SCNC.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are grateful for the continued support of the Canadian Armed Forces.\u00a0 They have shown commitment to ensure that tomorrow\u2019s workforce knows the importance of skilled trades and technologies and the opportunities available to them in these sectors\u201d said\u00a0Shaun Thorson, Chief Executive Officer of Skills\/Comp\u00e9tences\u00a0Canada.<\/p>\n

On May 29 and 30, 2025, labour groups, industry partners, government officials, educators, and youth will gather at the Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL) District in Regina, Saskatchewan. Over 500 students and apprentices will compete in more than 40 skilled trade and technology Skill Areas. This year promises to be exciting as it is a qualifying year for competitors to be part of Team Canada and participate at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026. Eligible medalists will get the chance to represent Canada at the prestigious WorldSkills Competition.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Canadian Armed Forces is once again pleased to continue our partnership with Skills\/Comp\u00e9tences Canada,\u201d said Colonel Adam McCabe, Commander, Canadian Forces Recruiting Group. The youth competing in this event demonstrate exceptional skills and passion and we want to ensure that they are aware of available opportunities to continue their educational growth as well as the many technologically focused career options in the Canadian Armed Forces.\u201d<\/p>\n

Skilled trades and technologies play a crucial role in Canada\u2019s economy but due to the aging workforce the country is in demand for skilled trade workers. According to BuildForce Canada the construction industry alone will need to hire over 300,000 workers by 2030 to meet the demand. SCNC helps promote skilled careers and creates possibilities for our future skilled workforce.<\/p>\n
