Through engaging plenary discussions, hands on activities and interactive roundtable discussions, the SFS Forum strengthens the bridge between education and the workforce. Educators, employers, career counsellors, and trade workers, come together to exchange ideas and tackle challenges collaboratively. Attendees leave with new Skills for Success resources and the inspiration to bring what they\u2019ve learned back to their schools and workplaces.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Each year,\u00a0the Forum shines a spotlight on one of the nine Skills for Success.\u00a0This year that skill is\u00a0Communication.\u00a0Good communication\u00a0isn\u2019t\u00a0only about talking. On a job site, that means solving problems with your team, asking\u00a0the right\u00a0questions,\u00a0and making sure everyone is working towards the same goal. This\u00a0year\u2019s\u00a0theme,\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Speak the Skill,\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">captures it perfectly. Knowing how to express yourself is just as important as knowing it.\u00a0However,\u00a0the Forum\u00a0isn\u2019t\u00a0just a conversation about what young Canadians need,\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0where the people\u00a0who support them get to grow too.\u00a0Anchoring the morning is keynote speaker Dr. Patrick\u00a0Rouble\u00a0\u2014 a former Yukon Cabinet Minister\u00a0who held portfolios in\u00a0both Education and Energy, Mines and Resources,\u00a0Past\u00a0President of\u00a0Skills\/Comp\u00e9tences\u00a0Canada\u2019s National\u00a0Board\u00a0of Directors, and a current Department Head at Yukon University.\u00a0Few people have sat on both sides of this conversation quite like he has.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0a perspective that matters because the skills at the\u00a0centre\u00a0of this conversation carry real weight.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In Canada, about 28 per cent of your earnings is\u00a0directly related\u00a0to your Skills for Success: Numeracy, Communication, Collaboration, Problem Solving, Writing, Adaptability, Reading, Creativity and Innovation, and Digital Skills.\u00a0These foundational skills support every step of a career in the trades.\u00a0Skills that are worth knowing\u00a0and\u00a0worth teaching.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">If\u00a0you\u2019re\u00a0a teacher, guidance counsellor, HR manager, administrator, employer, or parent, this is your room.\u00a0Every year, the right people come together, the conversations delve\u00a0deeper,\u00a0and the bridge gets stronger.
