Skills\/Comp\u00e9tences\u00a0Canada\u00a0hosts 35 National Champions as they prepare to compete on the world stage<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

OTTAWA,\u00a0Oct. 11, 2012\u00a0\/CNW\/ \u2013\u00a0Skills\/Comp\u00e9tences\u00a0Canada<\/a>, a not-for-profit organization that actively promotes careers in skilled trades and technologies, today announced the 35 members of\u00a0WorldSkills Team\u00a0Canada\u00a02013<\/a>\u00a0who will compete at the 42nd<\/sup>\u00a0WorldSkills Competition being held in\u00a0Leipzig,\u00a0Germany, from\u00a0July 2nd<\/sup>-7th<\/sup>, 2013. Representing Canada\u2019s best in skilled trades and technology, the 35 members of WorldSkills Team\u00a0Canada\u00a02013, along with their trainers and experts, gathered in\u00a0Ottawa\u00a0from\u00a0September 21\u00a0\u2013 23, marking the beginning of their journey to WorldSkills\u00a0Leipzig\u00a02013.<\/p>\n

\u201cWorldSkills\u00a0Leipzig\u00a02013 represents the opportunity of a lifetime where WorldSkills Team\u00a0Canada\u00a02013 will be competing for the title of world champion,\u201d said\u00a0Shaun Thorson, CEO of Skills\/Comp\u00e9tences\u00a0Canada. \u201cThis talented group of young skilled trade students are embarking on a life-changing journey, which will include a lot of hard work, dedication and perseverance. On behalf of Skills\/Comp\u00e9tences\u00a0Canada\u00a0and our member organizations, we wish WorldSkills Team\u00a0Canada\u00a02013 all the very best of luck in their training leading up to the Competition.\u201d<\/p>\n

WorldSkills\u00a0Leipzig\u00a02013 represents Canada\u2019s 12th<\/sup>\u00a0participation at WorldSkills, an international competition which takes place every two years, bringing together the world\u2019s best and brightest skilled trades and technology students and apprentices. Over 1,000 competitors from 61 WorldSkills International Member regions\/countries will participate, competing in 43 skilled trade disciplines.<\/p>\n
