Their generous support will enable SCC to better promote careers in trades to youth in <span class=\"xn-location\">Canada<\/span> through this important event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing involved in the Skills Canada National Competition is a great way for industry partners to inform youth of the many opportunities that are available to them in the field of skilled trades. This event also allows partners to connect business to business, associations and educational institutions to raise awareness of these careers,\u201d says <span class=\"xn-person\">Shaun Thorson<\/span>, Chief Executive Officer of Skills\/Comp\u00e9tences <span class=\"xn-location\">Canada<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>From\u00a0June 5-8, 2016, stakeholders and youth will gather in\u00a0Moncton\u00a0where over 500 secondary and post secondary students will compete in more than 40 skilled trade and technology areas. SCC is pleased to be working with UA Canada, UA Local325 and UA Local 213 on a sprinkler system demonstration for this year\u2019s competition. SCC will also be working with its Member Organizations to make this an official contest in the future. In addition, UA is an instrumental partner in the steamfitter\/pipefitter skill area, which will be an official contest for the first time this year at SCNC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUA Canada is pleased to work with Skills Canada again this year to showcase the many careers in the skilled trades that are available to Canadian youth. \u00a0These sectors are vital in keeping our country\u2019s economy strong. \u00a0Developing a skilled workforce is becoming increasingly important as there will be a growing demand for skilled workers,\u201d says <span class=\"xn-person\">John Telford<\/span>, Director Canadian Affairs, UA Canada.<\/p>\n<p><b>About UA Canada<br \/>\n<\/b>The United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry of <span class=\"xn-location\">the United States<\/span> and <span class=\"xn-location\">Canada<\/span> \u2013 commonly known as \u201cUA\u201d \u2013 is a multi-craft union whose members are engaged in the fabrication, installation maintenance and servicing of piping systems across <span class=\"xn-location\">North America<\/span>.
