The next Skills Canada National Competition will be held May 27- 30, 2019, at the Halifax Exhibition Centre, marking the Competition\u2019s 25thanniversary.<\/p>\n<p>The Nova Scotia Department of Education and Early Childhood Development will be the School Engagement Sponsor at SCNC 2019. Through this partnership, schools will be able to access funding so that teachers and students from elementary to senior high school will be able to attend and participate in the 2019 Skills Canada National Competition. SCNC is a great opportunity to promote careers in skilled trades and technology to youth in Canada and to engage them in interactive activities which showcase these exciting careers. In recognition of<br \/>\nSCNC\u2019s 25thanniversary, there will be a variety of related activities as well as special guests and industry celebrities onsite at the Halifax Exhibition Centre.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis event prepares the students of today, for the demands of tomorrow. It gives them the opportunity to experience a wide range of career options so they can make informed decisions about their future,\u201d said Zach Churchill, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development. \u201cThrough this competition students will demonstrate the passion they have for a specific trade or technology, develop skills as critical thinkers and problem solvers, and be positive role models for other students who want to pursue a career in skilled trade or technology.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Through the commitment of its\u2019 many sponsors and suppliers, Skills\/Comp\u00e9tences Canada is able to engage Canada\u2019s future workforce at SCNC. At the 25thSkills Canada National Competition, over 550 secondary and post secondary students from across Canada will compete for the title of national champion in over 40 skilled trade and technology Skill Areas. Furthermore, approximately 7,500 student visitors will learn about these lucrative careers by participating in over 50 Try-A-Trade\u00e2and Technology activities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Skills Canada National Competition highlights the importance of having technical and digital skills for today\u2019s evolving job market.
