Between 2019 and 2028, about 700,000 skilled trade workers are expected to retire. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Through the Skills Canada National Competition, Skills\/Comp\u00e9tences Canada is <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">#CreatingPossibilities<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> in the skilled trades and technologies for youth and their future.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Last month, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">350 students and apprentices from across the country competed for the title of national champion in over 45 Skill Areas at the Vancouver Convention Centre and virtually, at the 2022 Skills Canada National Competition (SCNC), in Vancouver. The complete list of medalists is available <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skillscompetencescanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/SCNC-2022-Results_130622.pdf\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">here<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:true,&quot;134233118&quot;:true,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">SCNC is the only national, multi-trade and technology competition for students and apprentices in the country. During SCNC Canada\u2019s best in skilled trades and technologies compete to become the national champion in their respective discipline.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:true,&quot;134233118&quot;:true}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">SCNC 2022 was attended by over 2,700 visiting students from the province of British Columbia. Stakeholders representing industry, labour, government, education and not-for- profit organizations, and alumni including the National Alumni Committee, were also onsite to promote the skilled trades and technologies. Visitors had the opportunity to participate in over 40 Try-A-Trade\u00ae and Technology activities, which provided hands-on experience, and demonstrated what these careers are all about. At SCNC 2022, Creativity &amp; Innovation, one of the nine plus one Skills for Success, was highlighted throughout the event. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Through these competitions, Skills\/Comp\u00e9tences Canada (SCC) seeks to get Canada\u2019s youth, including under-represented groups such as <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">women, newcomers, Indigenous people, persons with disabilities, and visible minorities<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, to consider skilled trade and technology careers as a rewarding option.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Check out the event photos on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/skillscompetencescanada\/albums\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Flickr<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, watch the livestream of the competition and the Ceremonies on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/c\/SkillsComp%C3%A9tencesCanada\/videos?view=0&amp;sort=dd&amp;shelf_id=0\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">YouTube<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, and see the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Fg_ivA9zQNA\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">highlight video<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> to relive the excitement of the competition.
