Biography
I chose to be an industrial mechanic, or millwright, because we get to work on all different types of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment in a variety of sectors. I love how adaptable my trade is. We get thrown into different challenges, then figure out what’s wrong with a machine and fix it. I’m constantly learning new things and improving my skills. I’d like to start my own company and become one of the best at what I do.

I was encouraged to enter Skills competitions by a coach at SAIT. I won the gold medal in my trade at the Skills Canada National Competition 2025, in Regina. Then I found out I was going to represent Canada at the 48th WorldSkills Competition, in Shanghai. That news made me feel so fulfilled and satisfied. It proved that hard work and the desire to succeed really does pay off. My biggest challenges in Shanghai will be possible language barriers and having to adapt to a completely new environment.

Interesting Fact
After high school, I went to university but quickly realized it wasn’t the right fit for me. That’s when I decided to explore the millwright trade—and I ended up loving it and discovering a real passion for it!

Skills for Success
I feel that Adaptability and Problem Solving are the key skills that will help me succeed in my trade. They’ve both played a huge role in getting me to WorldSkills Shanghai 2026.
