Biography
I enjoy working with my hands and building things. So, when I did well at the Skills provincial competition, l chose Carpentry as my career. I enjoy seeing the finished product of my hard work. I’d like to get my Journeyman and Red Seal certifications and start a construction company of my own.

My high school Carpentry instructor entered me into a Skills competition in Grade 11, and I’ve competed every year since. Competing is a challenging experience that I would recommend to anyone! When I found out I’d been selected to represent Team Canada at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, it felt surreal. But it will be a terrific opportunity for me to become better at what I do! It also allows me to travel the world, something I otherwise wouldn’t be doing. My biggest challenges in Shanghai will be meeting the time limit and managing the overwhelming pressure of the competition. However, I’m very excited to be representing my hometown and my country on the world stage.

Interesting Fact
I spend my free time hunting and fishing in northern Alberta.

Skills for Success
Adaptability and Problem Solving are the key Skills for Success in my category. In the Carpentry competition, you must quickly adapt to new rules and environments. You must also possess solid Problem Solving skills as blueprints and strategies change from one competition to another. I plan to follow some useful advice I received: Focus on the task at hand and get it done.
