Maya is the Event and Logistics Coordinator at Skills/Compétences Canada (SCC). She joined SCC in August 2023. She graduated and received her master’s degree in Paris, France at Ecole Supéieure de Journalisme. After a brief period working in journalism, film and documentaries, she worked in events for six years across the Middle East, North Africa and Eastern Europe, where she gained the knowledge and experience before joining SCC. She is confident that in her role today, the most important Skill for Success is problem solving because it allows her to bring innovative solutions for any problem that may arise.

She oversees and coordinates all travel, catering, and registration aspects and arrangements .

“If I weren’t at Skills Canada, I would be a filmmaker. Through film, I could show my passion for nature, wildlife and outdoors.”

Maya loves watching Car Painting during the Skills Canada National Competition (SCNC). She finds the whole process exciting mainly watching the cars go from matte primer to shiny gloss finish. She admires how the competitors make it look effortless and the skills it takes to do what they do. Maya is also very proud of her roots from Lebanon and always shows her love for the country to everyone around her. At the office she shows that love by giving her colleagues a taste of the various cultural food she makes whenever she can.
