Mario Martel
My Skills Background
I have been involved in regional and provincial Skills competitions since 2004. This was my first year participating as a Trainer at the Skills Canada National Competition 2025, in Regina!
I have been teaching Mechanical Engineering CAD at Cégep de Sherbrooke for over 30 years, specializing in CAD Industrial Design. What a wonderful profession it is to be able to pass on my passion and skills to the new generations!
Training Champions
First, we will start by identifying the competitor’s strengths and weaknesses to establish a timeline of goals to be achieved in his training. Then, we will work on improving his speed, precision, quality of execution, and time optimization. My competitor has the potential to win a medal at the WorldSkills Competition, but no matter what happens, it is already a huge success that he can represent his country and compete against the best in the world! Above all, I hope he is PROUD of his journey and that he can benefit from all these wonderful life experiences! I have been supporting him since his first Skills competition, and I have complete confidence in him!
Why I Love Volunteering
Volunteering gives me the chance to grow right alongside the competitors I train. I’m constantly learning—refining my training skills, exploring new teaching methods, and discovering what works best for each individual. But beyond the technical side, it’s the human connections that make it unforgettable.
