My Skills Journey
I won the gold medal in my Skill Area of IT Network Systems Administration two years in a row when I competed at the Skills Canada National Competition (SCNC) in 2023 and 2024. My experiences with Skills competitions have opened my eyes to the endless opportunities in the technology and skilled trade industries. It’s thrilling to watch young adults compete in different Skills Areas. My accomplishments as a competitor helped me land my current job as an IT support engineer.
Joining the National Alumni Committee (NAC)
I joined the NAC to help give back to the organization that has given me great opportunities. I want to inspire today’s youth and show them the incredible pathways that skilled trades can offer. As a new member, I’m most looking forward to meeting all the young competitors and attendees who will be at SCNC 2026, in Toronto, and beyond, as well as contributing to the Skills Movement.
Overcoming Career Barriers
To secure a spot at the renowned Sisler High School Cyber Academy, I commuted by bus an hour and a half every day for over five years from my home, which was 20 kilometers north of the school. All that travelling paid off!
Proudest Moment
The proudest moment of my career so far was being selected for the NAC!
