Evan Rideout

College of the North Atlantic
Cloud Computing
St. John’s, NL

Biography

I chose to pursue Cloud Computing because I believe it is the future of the IT industry. It also allows me the flexibility to create new, custom and creative solutions to modern problems in all areas of the industry. My career goal is to run my own cloud consulting firm – advising and maintaining company production environments within the cloud for my clients.

I got involved with skills competitions through my instructor at school (and coach), Richard Spencer. I jumped at the opportunity to learn a completely new skill and began my training for the competition.

Interesting Fact

My biggest inspiration is my dad – Daryl Rideout. He has the strongest work ethic I’ve ever known and has taught me that if you want something badly enough you will find a way to make it happen.

Essential Skills

I think that Continuous Learning has been an instrumental Essential Skill during my training. The field of IT is always changing, and with Cloud Computing being relatively new, large companies like Amazon, Google and Microsoft are constantly adding to the long list of 90+ available cloud services. In order to keep up, continuous learning is key.
