My Skills Background

I’m an instructor at the College of the North Atlantic. I’m passionate about teaching students how to build the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the world of IT. This is my first year as an Expert.

The Importance of Training

When I train a competitor, I create a support system for them. It’s about building confidence by developing a mental strategy with the guidance of the Trainer and Expert and relying on family and friends for moral support. Overall, they should train up to 10 hours per week

In Shanghai, our competitor’s main challenge will be to maintain focus throughout the four-day event. Whatever the outcome, I’ll feel we’ve succeeded if our competitor performs confidently and enjoys themselves. A podium finish or a Medallion of Excellence would be amazing! For my part, I want to absorb knowledge from other Experts, and watch the talented contestants perform.

The Value of the Skills for Success

The most important Skills for Success will be Problem Solving, Digital, Adaptability and Reading. I hope this event enables our competitor to grow more confident as a skilled tradesperson while also having fun making new friends and contacts!

Why I Love Volunteering

Volunteering is my way to give back to the community. The most rewarding thing about volunteering is watching people have fun and learn in the process. It would be fantastic if my efforts could spark others to become interested in Information Technology.
