Biography

I chose this trade because landscaping is an exciting and creative profession. I love the variety of skills we use, from paving stones to using timber. I want to gain experience working in this field, then start my own business. When I chose my career in secondary school, I discovered skills competitions and wanted to participate. The memories, the friendships, and the new places we discovered are forever etched in my mind!

When my name was called for the gold medal at the 2023 Skills Canada National Competition, in Winnipeg, I don’t think I’d ever screamed so much! But I didn’t realize until I returned to Quebec that my friend Gio and I would be representing Canada in landscape gardening at WorldSkills Lyon 2024. The biggest challenge there will be the four days of competition – with intense work, and wonderful experiences.

Interesting fact
One of my passions is collecting sports cards, a hobby I share with some of my family members.

Skills for Success
Communication and problem solving are important skills for us. Gio and I have excellent communication skills and we’re always there for each other, whether it’s to check things out or move the project forward. Our speedy problem solving skills have also helped us during the competition.
