I love working with my hands, so the skilled trades are a good fit for me. I chose autobody repair because I’ve loved cars since I was a kid. If you have a passion for what you do, you’ll be great at it! I want to one day own or manage a shop.
I got involved in skills competitions in 2017 when I competed at the Skills Canada Alberta Provincial Competition. I heard about it from previous competitors and I decided to give it a try.
I’m really good with my hands and with technology! I fix phones and do home renovations on the side.
I believe that continuous learning is the most important Essential Skill to have in autobody repair because vehicles are changing really fast! Cars have changed so much in the past few years that if you do not keep up with the technology or repair procedures, you will have a tough time in this trade. I also think that working with others is crucial to succeed because in this industry you rely a lot on other people for different tasks. I communicated and worked with a lot of people at the competition.
