Brooke Heaman
Biography
I never had a specific plan for my career, but I knew it had to be something creative. Since 3D was a field that always stood out to me growing up, I wanted to explore it and see where I went with it. I love the possibilities of 3D Digital Game Art. If you can imagine or visualize something, you can create it in 3D!
I was introduced to Skills competitions through my college. It was an opportunity to experience something new, and I found the competitions to be fun. Yet, after participating in the provincial Skills competition and the Skills Canada National Competition, it felt surreal when I heard I’d be competing at the 48th WorldSkills Competition, in Shanghai. I think the biggest challenge I’ll face will be the difference in event scale, so I plan to prepare by training myself to match the same skill levels as my fellow competitors.
Interesting Fact
I have other creative hobbies including art, music and writing.
Skills for Success
Problem Solving and Creativity & Innovation are vital skills for me to use during the training process and competitions. When I’m creating, I try to troubleshoot solutions as I construct concepts in 3D which help me understand how to make the final product. With this mindset, when it comes to competition time, I’m able to accomplish my tasks without any stress.
