Charlie Véronneau
Biography
I chose to pursue a career in Landscape Gardening because I truly enjoy working outdoors and I appreciate the freedom of not having a fixed routine every day. That flexibility, combined with my love for nature, inspired me to continue my education in this field. What I enjoy most about this skilled trade is the sense of accomplishment that comes with completing a project and the fact that there’s always something new to learn. My current goal is to gain as much hands-on experience as possible, and I’m fortunate to be doing that at Mathieu Poisson Landscaping Services, where I work alongside my WorldSkills Competition partner.
My journey with Skills competitions began in school, when a teacher introduced me to the opportunity. From that moment, I was all in. I was thrilled—and incredibly proud—to learn that I’ll be representing Canada with my partner, Logan Poisson, at the 48th WorldSkills Competition, in Shanghai, China. I know the experience will be intense and rewarding. I expect the biggest challenge will be adapting to new environments and adjusting to the differences in materials and techniques used in other countries.

Skills for Success
Collaboration has been one of the most important Skills for Success throughout my training and during Skills competitions. Since Landscape Gardening is a two-person project, teamwork isn’t just helpful—it’s essential. Being able to communicate effectively, share ideas, and support each other under pressure has allowed us to work more efficiently and achieve stronger results together.
