My Skills Background
My journey with Skills competitions began when I volunteered as a National Technical Committee member, serving as a judge at a provincial Skills competition. From there, I stepped into the role of Trainer, working with the WorldSkills Team Canada 2026 competitor—supporting him twice at the provincial Skills Competitions and once at the Skills Canada National Competition 2025, in Regina. This experience naturally positions me to continue guiding him toward success at the 48th WorldSkills Competition, in Shanghai, China.

As a carpentry instructor at Lakeland College, I’m passionate about passing on my trade knowledge, inspiring the next generation of skilled professionals, and helping them reach their full potential.

Training Champions
My training approach focuses on helping competitors sharpen their skills, increase their speed, and strengthen their mental resilience—especially when the pressure is on. For me, success as a Trainer means watching them enjoy the competition, learn, and grow from the experience. More importantly, I hope he develops in all areas of his life and emerges not only as a stronger competitor, but as an even better carpenter.

Why I Love Volunteering
Volunteering gives me the chance to grow as a Trainer, share my knowledge with future competitors, and continue developing my own skills. It’s also an opportunity to build meaningful connections, learn from others, and be part of a supportive community where everyone is working toward a shared goal.
