My Skills Background
I’m a retired Home Economics teacher, specializing in Fashion Technology. I thrive on teaching new skills to students that they can use to develop a career or adopt as hobbies. I’ve volunteered with Skills/Compétences Canada since 1997, participating at the regional, provincial and national competitions as a Trainer and a member of the Provincial Technical Committee and National Technical Committee. I’m proud to have been a Trainer at five WorldSkills Competitions.

Training Champions

All my competitors have been students in my clothing and textiles classes. So, it’s logical for me to coach them at the WorldSkills Competition. I collaborate closely with the Expert in Fashion Technology who devises our competitor’s training program. That includes consulting with a competitor who trained for WorldSkills Kazan 2019.

We’ll be successful as long as our competitor completes the contest modules in a quick and effective way. She should be ready due to her accumulated skills, knowledge and mental preparedness. I trust she’ll work hard and take time to enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Why I Love Volunteering
As a Trainer, my goals are always the same: To enhance my knowledge, and to facilitate our competitor to do their best. I believe my competitor chose me as her Trainer because she’s a longtime student and competitor who I’ve trained for three years. Our working relationship is solid. I’m proud to help shape the next generation of skilled tradespersons.
