My Skills Background
I am a Chef Professor at George Brown College. Teaching and learning, with food as a focus, is a tremendous way to build deeply valuable connections with people. I have previous experience with Skills/Compétences Canada as a competitor and a judge.
Training Champions
I decided to become a Trainer for our WorldSkills Team Canada competitor because I have a desire to compete and to help represent my trade with pride. I hope to train our competitor to aspire to produce work that is at the highest level for culinary arts. We will aim to prepare food that will be on par with the Bocuse d’Or, the world’s most prestigious culinary contest.
I will have succeeded as a Trainer if I can nurture my candidate to develop life-long skills and culinary knowledge that will result in extraordinary opportunities for them in the future. I also hope that my competitor leaves the WorldSkills Competition feeling confident in her abilities and proud of her efforts competing on the world stage.
Why I Love Volunteering
I’m very honoured to be a Trainer. I hope to gain a sense of fulfillment as I support my candidate while she competes on the global stage for skills. As for why my candidate chose me to be her Trainer – I believe it’s simply because she knows her chances of success are greatest with me.
