My Skills Background
I’m a Mechatronics Technologist. This multidisciplinary field blends mechanics, electronics and computing to develop solutions for a wide range of industries including automation or manufacturing. Understanding the process of how to build and control systems allows for a better appreciation of the world we live in and how it functions. I’ve been involved with the skills movement as a judge for Skills Canada Ontario for two years.
Training Champions
I decided to become a Trainer for our competitors because I wasn’t able to compete while I was a student. For our current competitors, I’ll be creating a training plan that has variety and allows the competitors to experience different challenges. I also want them to practice their logistics and troubleshooting skills so they can manage unexpected situations.
I’ll know our training has been successful when our competitors go all out at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 and feel satisfied with their efforts afterwards. That said, getting a Medallion for Excellence or having a podium finish would be the icing on the cake! I hope the competitors make new connections with contestants from other countries. Most of all, I want the competition to be a truly memorable event that lays the foundation for their future endeavors.
Why I Love Volunteering
As a Trainer, I hope to gain more experience to help train the next Team Canada competitors. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of the team training Canada’s next generation of skilled tradespersons.
