Mosaic Signs on with Skills/Compétences Canada as an Official Sponsor for the Skills Canada National Competition (SCNC) 2025, in Regina

Mosaic partners with Skills/Compétences Canada to further encourage Canadian youth in skilled trades and technologies

Ottawa, Ontario, April 29, 2025 – Skills/Compétences Canada (SCC), a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that youth are aware of the various opportunities available in skilled trades and technologies, is proud to announce Mosaic, as an official sponsor of the Skills Canada National Competition (SCNC) 2025, in Regina. Mosaic is the world’s leading integrated producer of concentrated phosphate and potash. Their contribution will help SCC continue providing opportunities for youth to showcase and improve their skills.

The event will take place on May 29 and 30, at the Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL) district. Mosaic will be on site to support the competitors and host an exhibitor booth where they will be able to interact with both students and the public at SCNC.

“We are happy to work with a company like Mosaic that cares about the future skilled workforce of our country. Their contribution will further help SCC’s mission of advancing the engagement of youth and their communities in skilled trade and technology careers using a pan-Canadian approach,” said Shaun Thorson, Chief Executive Officer at SCC.

SCNC is an annual competition event where over 500 students across Canada gather and compete in over 40 different categories in skilled trades and technologies such as baking, welding, robotics, graphic design and much more. It provides competitors with the opportunity to showcase their skills, win prizes, medals and the chance to represent Canada at the WorldSkills Competition. SCNC’s main goal is to highlight the importance of skilled trades and technologies and raise awareness on the career opportunities that are available to youth in these industries.

“We are excited to support this year’s SCNC while its right here in our backyard. It will support the development of the next generation of skilled workers in Canada by providing them with a platform they need to learn and practice their skills,” said Lawrence Berthelet, Vice President – Operations, Potash.

In Canada approximately 700,000 skilled trade workers are set to retire by 2028, creating a growing shortage of skilled workers. Therefore, we need to promote skilled careers now more than ever and create possibilities for tomorrow’s workers, which is what SCNC is all about.
