Skills Canada National Competition 2022

Vancouver Convention Centre
May 25 – 28
Competition days May 26 and 27

Skills/Compétences Canada (SCC) is happy to be heading back to Vancouver in 2022 for the Skills Canada National Competition (SCNC), which will be hosted in person for the first time since 2019 due to the pandemic. SCNC 2022 will be held at the Vancouver Convention Centre May 26 and 27. More than 300 competitors from all regions of Canada will participate in over 35 skilled trade and technology competitions. The competitions for post-secondary competitors will be held onsite while those for secondary students will be held virtually, and will be highlighted onsite at the venue. The winners in all the Skill Areas and categories will be announced at the Closing Ceremony.

SCNC Vancouver 2022 also represents a qualifying year to compete at WorldSkills Shanghai 2022. As SCC could not host an in-person event in 2021, the members of WorldSkills Team Canada 2022 will be selected at SCNC 2022 where the WorldSkills Team Canada 2022 Selection Event will be hosted. This competition will be held concurrently during SCNC in Vancouver, and youth from across the country may have the opportunity to compete in the selection event for the 27 Skill Areas that Canada will participate in during WorldSkills Shanghai 2022. The winner in each of these Skill Areas will be named to WorldSkills Team Canada 2022 and actively train to compete in Shanghai for the title of world champion in their respective Area.

This event is the only national, multi-trade and technology competition for students and apprentices in the country. By providing a forum where young Canadians can compete at the national level, SCNC provides hands-on work experience related to skilled trade and technology careers.
